Five-time winners, Zamalek of Egypt will face Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club for a place in the final against the winner of the all-Southern African affair between surprise packets, Zesco United of Zambia and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
The progression of the two Southern African clubs to the last four comes as a huge surprise especially for Zesco, who advanced from a group that included three former winners of the premier continental club championship, Al Ahly (Egypt), ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire) and Wydad.

Only the second time that they have gone past the prelims, Zesco have landed themselves probably the biggest game in the history of the club against Sundowns, losing finalists 15-years ago.
For Zamalek, it is the first time since 2005 that they have reached the semis, whilst Wydad last tasted action in the last four in 2011, before losing to Tunisia’s Esperance in the final.
The first leg will take place on the weekend of 16-18 September and the return on 23-25 September.
